UNO Alumni Concert
In celebration of the university’s 50th Anniversary, the UNO Department of Music is proud to host its first Alumni Concert. We plan to make this an annual event featuring both instrumental and vocal performers who graduated from our Music program. Under the support of the Musical Excursions concert series, two concerts will be presented, one in the Fall and one in the Spring semesters. Please plan to join us to hear excellent UNO alumni perform in our newly renovated Recital Hall. A reception will follow each concert honoring all graduates, and giving us the opportunity to visit with old friends!
Fall UNO Alumni Concert Sunday, November 16, 2008 – 2:00 PM
Spring UNO Alumni Concert Sunday, March 15, 2009 – 2:00 PM

Founded in 2006 by a group of professional New Orleans musicians, Musaica is an ensemble whose goal is to present a variety of eclectic and entertaining chamber music to the greater New Orleans community. Musaica presents more familiar and accessible works alongside those, which are new or less often performed. In its first two seasons, Musaica presented works by its bass player David Anderson, and compositions by Villa-Lobos, Bax, Bartok, Poulenc, Bernstein, Copland’s Appalachian Spring, and the Schubert Octet.

UNO Ambassadors for the Arts
Formed by clarinetist Frankie Kelly, the UNO Ambassadors for the Arts made its debut appearance on the Musical Excursions concert series in April 2008. In addition to Dr. Kelly, core members include: Yuki Tanaka, violin; Karen Ray, cello; and pianist Robin Williams. A variety of repertoire is presented, which in turn allows for guest appearances by New Orleans professional musicians. Repertoire has included Brahms, Milhaud, and Kodaly, just to name a few.
