Orff Schulwerk Level 1
Clinicians: Brent Holl and Ann Harrington
Dates: June 21-July 2 2010
Classes run from 8:30AM-4PM Monday-Friday.

Brent Holl
Brent Holl lives in Bridgewater, Virginia, and is retired after teaching general music and choir at Stuarts Draft Elementary School, Stuarts Draft Middle School and at S. Gordon Stewart Middle School in Augusta County, Virginia for 33 years. He has been an adjunct teacher fo James Madison University, Blue Ridge Community College, and Radford University. He is currently the Basic Orff instructor for the summer course at Virginia Commonwealth University. Mr. Holl was the director of the Stewart Orff Ensemble, the eighth grade general music class at Stewart Middle School from 1992 through 2006. Brent is also a professional folk singer and member of the band SHEN FINE. He plays the 12 string guitar, 6 string guitar, bass, bohdran, and whistle.

Ann Harrington
Ann Harrington received her undergraduate degree in music education from the University of Southern Mississippi. She received her Master of Music Education in general music with special emphasis on the Orff-Shulwerk from the University of Kentucky. Her Orff-Schulwerk Teacher Education Levels I, II, III and other advanced Orff-Schulwerk courses were also completed at the University of Kentucky. Currently, she teaches elementary music to students in Pre-Kindergarten through seventh grade in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Tuition for the course is $450. It includes a recorder and all required textbooks.
Single bed housing in the UNO dorms can be provided from June 21-July 2, 2010. Housing plus bedding is $380. Housing without bedding  is $360. More luxurious accomodations can be found in hotels in the French Quarter. The UNO campus is a 15 minute drive from the French Quarter.

Checks can be made to UNO Foundation.

You can receive graduate or undergraduate credit from UNO for an additional cost. The cost of summer tuition has not yet been determined. The current tuition rates are as follows for 3 credit classes:

In state tuition for a graduate class is $757.90.
Out of state tuition for a graduate class is $2306.90.
In state tuition for an undergraduate class is $667.90.
Out of state tuition for an undergraduate class $2216.90.

People wanting to take the Orff course for a graduate class should register for MUS 4001G, section 002. Those who want to take the course for undergraduate credit should register for MUS 4001, 002. More details pertaining to course registration and summer tuition will be provided at a later date.
